Submit

That is our best advice to submitters, and it is not a joke: watch it at various times of day and in various types of moods. Things you’ll notice during that exploration — we shoot on VHS; we don’t know how to edit films; we work within our community; we don’t shoot perfect shots or capture perfect sound; we like concerts and actions and poetry readings and performances and drinking beer and filming all of it. Oh, and Žižkov, of course.

If you think you have a video which suits all or some of those variables, this is the form. Every submission is read by a person and we write back either way.

Supporters can submit videos, but the video must be in collaboration with a Verified Poet — someone already listed in the Poet Directory. Tag them below; the field searches the Directory, so the spelling matches the record.

Verified Poets can submit videos of themselves — and are always encouraged to collaborate with other poets in the network.

The title of the work, a description, the associated poets, and why you think the film fits O:P:TV. If you have any questions, shoot us an email and we’ll take it from there.

The work stays yours. Submitting transfers nothing. What you give us, if we accept it, is permission — a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to preserve, show, stream and distribute the video as part of the archive, including on Archive.org under the OBJECT:PARADISE label, with credit to you and to the poets you tag. You stay free to show, sell or license it anywhere else.

That licence has to be permanent, because Archive.org is. Once an item is up there it cannot be withdrawn, so we cannot honestly offer you a revocable one. We can and will take a video off objectparadise.com on request.

What you’re confirming when you tick the boxes: that the footage is yours, that any music in it is yours or cleared for this use, that no third party’s work is in it without permission, and that everyone recognisable has agreed to appear in a permanent public archive. Music is where this usually goes wrong — a commercial track on a live recording is not cleared just because the gig happened. If a rights problem surfaces later, tell us and we’ll pull it from this site the same day; Archive.org we cannot undo.

We know. Poetry happens. But Archive.org is a public library and the archive is read by people at work, in schools, and by our own grandmothers — so keep explicit material out of it where you can, and flag it in your note where you can’t.

The link, what you write below and the name and address on your account go into our review queue and stay there as the record of the submission — accepted or not. If we take it, the video is credited to the poets you tag, and it joins the Directory, the Network Map and the search index through those credits, which is how anybody finds anything here. Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, Nextcloud, a plain https link to the file: all fine. Not YouTube, and not Instagram, TikTok or Vimeo — we need the master, not a re-encode of a re-encode, and we are not building this archive out of other people’s players. Leave sharing set so anyone with the link can download, and leave it up until you hear from us.
