KROTCH is our monthly 16-page samizdat-style zine of community-based (f)art — poetry, visual work, comics, photography, and general nonsense, read on a rolling basis. Send us the piece, not your résumé.
Look at it first
The best way to know what we like to publish in KROTCH is to visit the KROTCH explore page.
How it works
01You send
A text under 200 words, so it fits one A5 page. Bad writing welcome.
02We collage
Scissors, glue, the copy shop. All of your text may be used, or only parts of it.
03You approve
We send the page back to you. Nothing runs until you like it.
04We print
It goes in the next issue of KROTCH, 16 pages, on paper.
05Beer + copies
We meet up, drink a beer, and hand you your two free copies.
What we publish
BAD writing, and we mean that as a compliment
We want the community poems, rants, raves, reviews, and stories that got rejected because an editor didn’t know what Žižkov was. KROTCH Mag is a rag by and for the neighbourhood. Our best advice: don’t try. Write with your eyes closed. Mispel everything on accident and then on purpose. Tell us about that time you got in the wrong taxi and you ended up at Babička’s house and shared marmalade and slivovice. Or how to make your own paint with ketchup and salt. Or about the worst concert you’ve ever seen and why it was the best. Drink a Braník metaphorically, physically, mentally. Recount the chronicles of Jan, Jenda, and Honza. Bad handwriting. Accidental poems. There are many places to send “good” and “nice” writing — this isn’t one.
We highly recommend combing through the KROTCH archives to get a gist of it — but send whatever you think feels right.
Under 200 words — it has to fit an A5 page
We ask for texts of less than 200 words, because a piece has to fit a single sheet of A5. If you have something longer, send it anyway — we’ll try our best to make it fit, but we can’t make any promises.
Why your name isn’t on the printed page
Contributors are listed as participating authors on our website, but we do not give author credit in the print edition. That’s deliberate — the purpose is to keep the magazine about the experience, not about the authors. That’s our thing.
Send us your text
KROTCH submissions are tied to your O:P account (your name is never published). Sign in or create an account to submit.
Every submission is made from your My Archive, and stays there with its status.
Missed Konnections

Saw someone on the tram, at the bar, at a reading? Leave them a line. Every issue prints a page of them. No names, no numbers, no account needed. Every line is anonymous. Read every one we have printed.
